What does the price include?

Our prices include transfers from your accommodation in the Darwin CBD to Sundancer NT, all meals, tea and coffee, land component costs at Cobourg and the Tiwi Islands, use of fishing and crabbing gear. All bedding and bath towels are provided.

Can I smoke on Sundancer NT?

Smoking inside Sundancer NT is strictly forbidden. To respect other passengers, there is a designated area for smoking at the rear.

Can I bring fishing gear?

We are not a specialised fishing charter but several rods are kept aboard along with some crab pots. Guests are welcome to bring their own fishing equipment. There will be opportunities to fish at the end of most days sailing or troll a lure during the day whilst we are underway.

Am I required to take out travel insurance?

We strongly recommend that guests take out adequate insurance to cover the possibility of cancellation of your trip, in case of an accident or in the event of damage or loss of personal effects. We recommend Defence Health Travel Insurance – www.defencehealth.com.au

What is the weather like?

Sundancer NT operates during the Top End Dry Season where day time temperatures range from 28 – 35 °C. Night time temperatures can range from 16-22°C. You can generally rely on clear blue skies with low humidity (30-40%) with very little likelihood of any rain.

How much luggage can I bring?

All cabins have limited storage and no hanging space. We would advise that you limit your luggage to 10kg. Please use collapsible luggage bags as no storage room is available for hard suitcases.

What should I pack?

Casual gear, lightweight clothing with long sleeves and bathers are the norm although a light jacket is advisable for the evening. A wide brimmed hat and sunglasses are strongly recommended. A beach towel is also advisable for lazing on the deck and drying after a shower with the deck washes. A light pair of shoes or sandals is recommended for shore based activities. Don’t forget your camera, sun screen, insect repellent, personal medication and toiletries.

What happens in the event of a serious emergency?

Sundancer NT has a First Aid Kit on board however if a serious medical injury does occur we have communications equipment to arrange for a medical evacuation at your expense.

Is there a satellite phone?

Your safety is a priority and in the case of an emergency we have a satellite phone on board. This phone can also be an emergency contact for you whilst on the trip.

Are there clothes washing facilities?

Sundancer NT does have a washing machine on board although excessive water use needs to be considered. Washing detergent and pegs are kept on board for those wishing to hand wash.

Can I swim?

There is no swimming in the sea while cruising the Top End due to the prevalence of salt water crocodiles. There are several deck washes on board to keep you cool during the day.

Can I help the crew sail Sundancer NT?

The crew welcome any volunteers to assist with sailing the vessel from hauling the mainsail in the morning, trimming the sails or steering a course during the day.
